Challenge:
Get planning permission for 3mio. sq.ft. project after two other architectural practices had tried for 6 years. Functions including upmarket housing, retail a music library for Trinity College and an extension of the LABAN Dance Centre in Greenwich & Lewisham, London, England.
Solution:
Making a design taking into consideration the demands of two opposing London councils, as part of a two person team, maximizing use of the buildable area, including required affordable housing, the tidal waters of Deptford Creek, heritage protected views from Greenwich Observatory, and protecting and complementing in the designs the very fragile facade of The LABAN Dance Centre by Hertzog and DeMeuron next door, successfully getting planning permission inside of 10 months.
